10 Questions: An interview with Rob Silverstone

Rob Silverstone

Today our spotlight falls on Rob Silverstone, author of ‘A Mule in Brighton: A Taste of the Downs’. On Saturday 10th May as part of the Brighton Festival Fringe you can meet Rob from 1pm to 3pm at Borders Bookshop in Brighton. Go along and enjoy some freshly baked scones and the alluring guitar music of Jim McCall.

As Rob was our only customer in the Literature section to come onto the web pages to create his own Virtual Flyer we had to learn more about him…

1. What inspired you to become an author?

A book transforms your writing into something tangible.

2. What is your event about and what should the public expect from your show?

A book signing infused with a bit of fun, food and music.

3. What is your favourite Festival or Fringe and why?

Living in Brighton there is only one answer, but I have always enjoyed the Edinburgh extravaganza.

4. What’s your best advice for aspiring writers on the Festival/Fringe circuit?

Become a Spurs supporter!

5. What is your funniest and also, your worst experience attending a Fringe/Festival?

The Irish comic Tommy Tiernan at Edinburgh; his former little leprechaun persona transformed into the fiercely angry delivery of Stiff Little Fingers – yet still very funny.

6. As you travel, what is your favourite place to vacation and chill out and why?

Did ‘Photofolies’ in the Loire; great food, cavernous wine cellars and châteaux perched on the hill.

7. Who is the person you most admire and why?

Juande Ramos; turned our season around.

8. What is the best tip you have ever been given?

Steer clear of jelly fish.

9. What is the best book you have read and why do you like it?

‘L’étranger’ by Albert Camus. So short and economical with words, yet so powerful.

10. If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?

Put Blair in prison!
