Found the venue today. Right enough, Scottish Storytelling Centre on the High Street.  And they’ve got a poster up for my show. Very red with me in black like Mephistopheles. What kind of gig is this?  Really must read the script…

I’m on display too at the National Archives.  My boss saying how wrecked I looked – due to die in a week. And my show opens on Friday 13th. That’s alright then.

The big billing here’s all for John Knox. He’s appearing at the Storytelling Centre, but they’ve even rebuilt his house for a photocall. I mean I quite like the old sod but that’s a mite OTT. I can’t even find a bed.

I’m playing myself but who’s doing Knox? Could be a bit tricky in the green room.

Need to get in and get sussed. Not today though. Found a handy hostelry, The Tass. Named after one of my songs, so there should be free beers for the bard.

Aye right. Welcome to Edinburgh!

Burns Blagginig the Fest – Blag 1

How to arrive in Edinburgh?
My guts are nipping me. Something about this place cracks me up.
And where to stay?

My mate John says I can doss down in his place on the High Street. Handy location, but its mingin. And the landlord creeps round every night counting mattresses. ‘That’ll be fifty quid extra – cash.’ What if it’s two – or three – to a mattress? That could get expensive. Culture – they just can’t get enough.

Got to find somewhere else. The racket’s awful. Pipers like banshees, bags distended like a pullulating haggis. As for upstairs. Drinkin and bonkin at all hours. At least by the sound of it, they’ve got beds. Must check out my venue – Scottish Storytelling Centre – on the High Street apparently. What is it? Any talent of the female kind? And will I be called an author or just a scrubbie actor?

Watch out, Edinburgh. Here I come! You cannae bar the Bard.
