One of the most exciting evenings of the Fringe Magdalena Reising and the Blue Cafe lure you with exquisite original jazz 'the kind of subtle magical power happening at Blue Cafe wont be held across the pond for long...' (New York Review). Magdalena's rich, deep voice, accompanied by the brilliance of Steve Thomson on double bass, the satin finesse of Hollywood composer, Christopher Page on Piano and the genius of Alex Eberhard on percussion 'will transport you to a place of low-lit glamour...' First, two beautifully illustrated children's books, 'The Sleepy Ladybird' and 'Saki and the Moonster'- illustrators Caroline Bailey and Sarah Ramos will be present. Next, Michael Bollen's 'Earth Inc.' ('A funny, charming, inventive satirical novel. Reminds me of Douglas Adams.' Stephen Merchant, The Office/Extras) and Corinne Souza's thriller about espionage and Iraq, 'Jasmine's Tortoise' ('Merciless-Llyods List). Finally, for those who enjoy non-fiction and a little conspiracy, Robin Ramsay's 'Politics and Paranoia'. As for Blues and Books- A strange combination, perhaps not? Not a bit of it. Magdalena met Corinne in an internet cafe when Corinne was proof reading and Magdalena was listening to her first interview promoting her CD Blue Cafe on radio Isle FM. And within seconds, Corinne was wearing headphones, listening to Magdalena's hauntingly beautiful composition 'Winter Love'. Meantime, Magdalena was absorbed in Picnic's first children's story.
