“So, I say, love your belly. It's a reminder of all the pleasures that went before and those that are yet to come! And that's dead erotic see!”
MAKE CAKE OR LOVE NOT WAR
Amy Godfrey has always been a bit fat. Too fat to buy vintage clothes but not enough to get her stomach stapled on the NHS. She’s been distraught, frustrated, despairing and hysterical but not enough to get therapy. So what do the 1 in 5 obese people in the UK do about their inexorable slide into diabetes? Diets make you fat, exercising makes you hungry and the media makes your bum look big. Amy doesn’t have the any of the answers but she has all the suggestions. And she has all the pies. She’ll fight you for them.
Now she channels her amusement, angst and love handle stories into a crew of characters who run rough shod over the diet industry in this thought-provoking and thoroughly entertaining new show.
For Amy, the show is only part of her ambition: “I am interested in the wider aspects of food's role in social cohesion, the global food trade and the importance of food, lifestyle and mental health” she says, ‘taking to the stage is only the beginning of my edible revolution’.
Join Amy as for a great night out as she unwraps and devours everything you thought you knew in protest and celebration of a big girl in a small world…
