Winter at Rushton Manor
by
Dan R. Martin
A period comedy about divorcees and ghosts.
After a year in the divorce courts Jonah Rushton finally concedes defeat, giving his much-loved manor house to Rose, his ex-wife.
But as Rose settles down for her first winter alone at Rushton Manor, she discovers that it's not only Jonah who wants her out. Someone - or something - else does too.
The Knapper Experience was formed in London in 2005 by Roger Kennedy and Dan Martin. With little or no money behind it, the aim was to create relevant, accessible, funny theatre that could be taken from venue to venue with no significant costs. These shows were not only performed in established venues, but also in pubs and music venues with no history of theatre production. The company have written and performed six contemporary comedies in five years, in venues ranging from a community centre in Sussex to the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh.
This year, Dan is returning to his local roots, and collaborating with fellow Brighton-based freelance producer Mill Goble, who has toured successful shows in Sussex, London, and Edinburgh, including previous Brighton Fringe shows Unsupervised Detention (Komedia Studio, 2009 – sold-out sketch comedy shows) and Utter Bellocs (The Hope, 2008 – 4/5, Three Weeks).
Brighton Festival Fringe will host the world premiere performance of Winter at Rushton Manor, before the company embark on a short tour around the South-East, including Surbiton, Arundel, and Chichester.
