A delicious Festival bon-bon: LYNN RUTH MILLER returns to treat festival-goers to her unique brand of comedy gone bad continuing the tradition of her 2005 San Francisco Comedy show, WEAPONS OF LAUGH DESTRUCTION in 2007 and numerous comedy shows in 2008. In 2009 she hosted CABARET GONE WILD at The counting House and sang her heart out in AGING IS AMAZING REDUX.

Treat yourself to comedy at its worst with a touch of song guaranteed to destroy to your digestion. This frolicking 77 year old rapper has been named THE WORLD’S OLDEST COUGAR and she is on the prowl. Her show is horrifying proof that even though your body parts drop to your ankles, they still can move with enough zest raise an eyebrow….but nothing else.

Lynn Ruth Miller had been remodeling facts since she emerged 77 years ago in Toledo, Ohio, the armpit of the US Midwest. Once she began presenting her prevarications to an audience larger than her three dogs, she met with amazing success. She hit the headlines in Edinburgh in August 2005, when she jumped out of a cake (almost) and removed her clothes (not quite) on every stage that would have her. Her fame spread when she threw her underwear at the audience at the Carleton Hotel that same year. In 2006, she became a legend: a show stealer and scene blocker who wrapped eager fans in spandex and reminded her audience that life can be a helluva lot of fun with or without a hip. In 2008, she taught the world that the older you are, the better you get. She is back with her off-key comedy extolling the senile set and proving that you aren’t dead if you can still breathe.

Indulge your funny bone with jokes that make you want to cry with a few raps and a song. She will encourage you to grow old in a rib-tickling hour at The Kasbah Room at Espionage.

Geriatric jokes and pensioner’s punch-lines

Lynn Ruth Miller is 77 years old – a fact she lets you in on moments into her opening rap (yes, you read that correctly). Nestled among the wrinkly folds of her material are jokes about saggy boobs, husbands long dead and sex for the elderly, along with a few carefully chosen uses of the F-word.

And yet, underneath the smut, here’s a lady you can’t help being charmed by. Sure, the jokes need to have dust blown off them at some point, and certain references need to be explained to younger audience members, but it’s so utterly refreshing to engage with a person on the other side of the age gap, or rather, have them engage with you, using comedy as a meeting point where you can understand each other. By the time she starts throwing old bras at the audience, she’s an old friend; maybe not as wild as the title would suggest, but a loveable granny nonetheless.

Lynn Ruth Miller packs a lot into her hour. She is a stand-and-deliver American comic in the good old-fashioned mould of Joan Rivers and Phyllis Diller.

Possibly the most memorable show I've seen so far, the combined age of her entire audience added up to only a little more than that of the performer. But we were all laughing. Tiger Woods, pearl necklaces, Facebook, breasts, G-spots, and why she'd be a lousy lesbian aren't what you might expect from a 77-year-old. But Lynn Ruth is 77 going on 17.

She has some great material about cruising at funerals, dating for the elderly and why she can eat anything she likes. This woman is sharp, and in among the fun and schtick there are some killer lines. Ms Miller is a poster girl for growing old disgracefully and she looks to be enjoying every second. My fellow audience members in the air-conditioned comfiness of the Kasbah Room at Espionage all looked to be in their teens but they seemed to be loving this rapping, snapping septuagenarian. If you like older women, you'll love Lynn Ruth.
