Saturday 4th – Monday 30th August, (not 16th or 23rd) 8.30pm Following two complete sell out runs with the Barry Award-winning Complete and Utter Conti and its follow-up, Evolution, stand-up and ventriloquist, Nina Conti, returns to the Fringe Festival with the UK premiere of her new full-length solo show, Talk to the Hand. Familiar favourite Monk is joined by a host of new characters, along with apparitions, real life humans and special guests as Nina turns her glove to chat show host.
“A mighty imagination at work” The Sunday Times
Talk to the Hand is created with, TV and radio producer, Bill Dare, (‘Spitting Image’, ‘Dead Ringers’, ‘I've Never Seen Star Wars’, ‘The Secret World’) who’s involvement has developed and promoted Nina's natural talent for improvising.
Nina is riding high as part of a ventriloquism renaissance. ‘America's Got Talent’ was recently won by a ventriloquist, and Jeff Dunham [350 million YouTube hits!] is the top grossing standup act of North America. Nina, Britain’s leading ventriloquist, is enjoying taking this previously derided artform to the cutting edge of the UK comedy scene.
Conti performs clairvoyant tricks and live phone pranks taking ventriloquism to a whole new place. This time the puppets are alive in the room, not confined to a scripted act.
“She commands the stage with charm and authority and has terrific comic timing” Metro
Following a recent stint in Hollywood where Nina and Monk appeared in Christopher Guest’s movie ‘For Your Consideration’, the pair now make a welcome return to their live roots as they veer off-script and access Nina’s uncensored mind in a Fringe run where no two shows will be the same.
