The Edinburgh hit about Elvis’ last tour comes to Brighton Fringe this year, following great success at last year’s Edinburgh and Buxton Fringe Festivals.
Are You Lonesome Tonight? tells the story of Dwight Carter, an American man who sets out to save his marriage by taking his wife to see all twelve dates of a tour by the man whose music brought them together – Elvis Presley. Sadly for Dwight, the tour is the one Elvis never got to play, dying the day before it was due to start. Even more sadly for Dwight, and his wife, they are a long way from home on their way to the first show when the news breaks.
‘A very well written play - dialogue is filled with wit and pathos’ Fringe Report.com
'A relevant look at fanaticism and the loss of one’s idols' Three Weeks
‘A warm-hearted and thoughtful play about what happens to our dreams and how to reconnect to them.’ Buxton Fringe Review
Are You Lonesome Tonight? is a fictional play based on real events. It is written by Andy Moseley and directed by Howie Ripley. The cast are Alison Green and Andy Moseley. The play was first performed at Buxton Fringe in July 2010 ahead of a five day run at Edinburgh Fringe that included packed houses on the 33rd anniversary of Elvis’ death, and the start of the tour that never was.
