The Cajun Dawgs at The Brunswick Hove, 21st May.
Brighton Fringe Festival Partys - Cajun Style!
The Brunswick will be serving up a hot mixture of Louisiana Cajun, Zydeco and Rockin' Swamp Blues presented by the Cajun Dawgs as part of Brighton Fringe Festival.
Formed in 2005 Eastbourne and Hastings based combo are the busiest and most booked cajun band on the UK music scene. Brothers Bob and Jim Tipler play accordions and guitars respectively and the band has a rock solid rhythm section in Darren Overs-Pearson on Bass and Andy Maby on drums.
A superb dance band whether you like to two step, waltz, jive or pogo you'll find the compelling rhythms hard to resist. The set moves from traditional cajun two steps and waltzes through to funky zydeco numbers with a healthy dose of rockin' blues along the way.
The Brunswick promises to be the perfect venue with its unrivalled reputation for roots music, superb sound and room to dance. The Cajun Dawgs will be joined on stage by King Size Slim, aka Toby Barelli, with his fat boogie percussive guitar style delivered live and direct. Toby's melodic and soulful music shouts loud and kisses sweet.
Last year the 'Dawgs commissioned Brighton based director Anita Makris to make a promo film for their version of the Cajun standard Les Flammes Denfer (The Flames of Hell) which manages to turn parts of Hastings into New Orleans. You can see the results and check out some sample numbers at The Cajun Dawgs' web site www.cajunrockers.com.
Tickets are available from the Fringe website at £8 but selling very fast. So if you only plan to go to one fringe music event this year, this is the one to choose.
