The Damsel In Shining Armour comes to Edinburgh Fringe
‘Walsh-Harrington is a brilliant performer, one hell of a singer and a delight to be entertained by for an hour.’ **** The Herald Sun
It hasn’t been a bad year for Yorkshire Cabaret chanteuse, Sophie Walsh-Harrington. After landing on Australia to devise her first cabaret show, The Damsel in Shining Armour, Walsh-Harrington proceeded to win Best Cabaret at the Adelaide Fringe 2011. This was shortly followed by 5 sell-out seasons in Australia receiving huge critical acclaim.
This year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival marks the triumphant return of Walsh-Harrington back home to the UK. Teaming up with award-winning cabaret duo, the Jane Austen Argument (Best Cabaret, Adelaide Fringe 2010) http://thejaneaustenargument.net and Remarkable arts – the Damsel and her armour will be shining brightly this August.
The Damsel in Shining Armour is an explosively raw new cabaret-noir melodrama featuring the works of Celine Dion as you’ve never heard them before... Walsh-Harrington seizes daringly into the dark depths of uncensored lust and melodrama, desperately seeking her rightful place - in shining (sequinned) armour.
The Damsel in Shining Armour is a really gorgeous production offering loads of laughs and fun with the time lapsing oh too quickly that, at the end, one feels propelled to shout out ‘Encore, encore!’ (aussietheatre.com)
