the mountain firework company is an acoustic roots band playing soulful, melodic, contemporary folk or, as one observer put it, 'swampy alternative bluegrass with a dark treacle folk centre'.'embracing and reversioning the good bits from all sorts of musical genres' theMFC delivers an original and driving sound from an all acoustic line up of guitars, banjo, fiddle, double bass and drum kit. They are led by the Northern Irish singer songwriter Gareth Mcgahan - an eclectic finger style guitarist and banjo player steeped in the country blues, folk and African traditions. He writes sad songs for bruised hearts and heads which sound at once both contemporary and traditional.St. Andrew's Church provides a stunning setting for two rare late afternoon and family friendly shows from the band who continue to delight listeners worldwide with their two albums 'SAMURAI' and 'a rough guide to feeling rough'.
